After 27 years with the Canadian Mental Health Association – Sudbury/Manitoulin (CMHA-S/M), Marion Quigley will be retiring mid-February 2020. Marion became the Chief Executive Officer for CMHA-S/M in 1999 and played a major role in improving mental health and addiction services in our community.
Why did you become involved in the mental health/addictions field?
I grew up interested in children with special needs and did babysitting and care giving for many children. In high school I volunteered one summer in Toronto at a specialized Mental Health Children’s Treatment Centre called Thistletown. I decided after that to study to be a Child and Youth Worker. When I completed my studies I was hired at Sudbury Algoma Hospital working with children in a specialized mental Health unit.
How long have you been with the agency?
What brought you to CMHA?
There was a position for a manager at the 3 C Centre and I thought it would be interesting to work in the adult sector.
What are you proud of during your time at CMHA?
The way the organization has grown; the partnerships we have developed, the programs we now deliver and the amazing Staff and Board Members! It was all about team work.
